Call it CRASS NWOBHM, EVIL ROCK or BLACK METAL - this album is the soul of a lifetime of rock and metal, and it SOUNDS LIKE A WAR BETWEEN ATLANTIS AND THE REST OF PLANET!

The writing for what the press often calls "THE DIFFICULT 13th ALBUM" started directly after the final track for THE CULT IS ALIVE was recorded. That song was "RAISED ON ROCK", Fenriz' dirty little rocker, and as soon as Ted had his first song for FUCK OFF AND DIE ready, they entered their Necrohell 2 studios again to record. That is how Darkthrone works now, 13 years after metal "died" (1994).

AIN'T NO SUGARCOATING - this is OLD metal with OLD sound. WHY does Darkthrone choose to record themselves on their own little studio instead of going for a modern hi fi "metal" sound? FENRIZ: "The demo sound is like AN ARCHITECTS' DREAM… and the plastic modern album sound is the result of the architects compromise with the little people, trying to please everyone. (and everyone sucks)".
